The
Society has published a Guide to breeding and a Guide to health testing, click
on the links at the bottom of this page to download a copy. From time to time
the Society arranges Health days where members dogs can be tested and also
arranges reduced cost health tests such as DNA for eyes and MRI's, details will
appear on this page.
Heart
Testing - Members of Eastern Counties CKCS Society can have their dogs
hearts tested at our health day and occassionally at our shows during the year.
We offer subsidised cardiologist tests for members dogs. Non members will pay.
Contact Secretary for bookings.
KC/VCS/CKCS Heart Scheme - launched in May 2018 the
scheme aims to reduce the prevalence of Mitral Valve Disease (MVD), it is often
refered to as a doppler. FAQ's and Breeding Guidelines drawn up for the scheme
can be viewed here. Contact the
Secretary for more information about the scheme.
Eye
Testing - Members of Eastern Counties CKCS Society can have their dogs eyes
tested at our health day under the KC/BVA scheme. Contact Secretary for
bookings.
Dry
Eye/Curly Coat and Episodic falling - Unfortunately the Animal Health Trust
has closed and is no longer providing testing facilities. Until such times as a
new centre is established our best advice is to check the Kennel Club web site
Health pages for advice.
Syringomyelia - Currently we do not have any local
centres offering low cost MRI scans.
